ZAKARY MILLER
'CANADIANA SWING'

-ZAKARY MILLER-
His album "I'm New Here" is a record to make you smile, giddy with glee and warm your heart. Inspired by a century of musicians who didn't take themselves seriously, Zakary Miller has carried on the tradition by yodeling, hooting and hollering his unique brand of 'Canadiana Swing', combining his love for music from Jugband and Western Swing to Jazz and Folk. Songs of odd observation and nonsensical cheer delivered with joy and pure excitement for the music. Improvisation is an important part of the music to Zakary and he starts every take by reassuring the musicians to be as silly as he thinks the song is, which created the wild atmosphere for this record.
His band, The Yodelayhee Few, is an all-star cast of Canada's great instrumentalists: The lapsteel and dobro of Zach Crawford (The Koconut Kings, Jake Duggan), the driving bass of Chris Robison (Chris Robison, The Hupman Brothers), the percussive swing of Adam Bazinet (Maxwellton, The Hupman Brothers), the riveting trumpeting of Tom Moffett (The Arkells, Zuze) the incredible alto sax tones of Bruce Mackinnon (The Double Cuts, Jack Marks) the sultry tenor sax tones of Leland Whitty (BADBADNOTGOOD, Colin Stetson) the sliding trombone of Daniel Walsh (Shout-the band, Teeny Tiny Music Show) the mountainous fiddling of Anna Wedlock (Bela String Quartet, Big Country Ramblers) and the harmonious backup vocals of The Dearlies and Zakary's wife, Fran.
